Robot Vacuum Maintenance: What the Dock Still Leaves to You

Separate automatic bin and mop care from the brush, filter, tank and sensor tasks you still perform.

Short answer: dock automation does not eliminate brush, filter, tank and sensor maintenance. Build the routine from your model's manual, not a universal “minutes per week” estimate. eufy's X10 Pro Omni manual provides a concrete example of the work that remains.

A model-specific starting schedule

The X10 Pro Omni manual recommends cleaning the dust box and filter once a week, and the rolling brush, side brush, sensors and charging pins once a month. It says the actual frequency depends on usage. These are eufy's instructions for that model, not intervals for every robot.

Follow the debris, then the water

Our suggested check sequence is the pickup path first: inspect the brush, its ends and the accessible bin. Then check the dock's remaining chores. On a mop-washing model, identify who empties the dirty-water tank and cleans the tray. A station that washes pads can still leave dirty water for you to handle.

Do not rinse a part just because a similar model permits it. Read the cleaning procedure for your own filter and brush, including drying and power-off instructions, before handling them.

Put supplies beside the routine

Make a short parts list from the manual: exact filter, brush, pads and bag where applicable. Check whether the seller supplies replacements for your configuration. We have no measured parts lifespan in a pet home and no verified annual consumable bill, so neither appears as a number here.

Our recommendation is to choose automation around the chore you dislike, while retaining a place to clean and dry the parts. A dock under a shelf may save floor space but make tank access frustrating; resolve that before buying.

Frequently asked questions

Does self-emptying clean the roller brush?

Self-emptying describes bin emptying; it does not establish that hair is removed from the roller, side brush or wheels.

How often should I clean an X10 Pro Omni filter?

eufy recommends once a week in its X10 Pro Omni manual, with frequency depending on usage. Use your own model manual for other robots.

Can I quote one maintenance time for every home?

No. We have no timed household maintenance test, and the workload depends on debris, floor layout and dock design.
